We recognized Orange shirt day this week at Fernwood School. Orange Shirt Day (September 30th) honours the resilience and bravery
of residential school survivors and their families, and remembers
those who didn't make it home. It is an opportunity for schools and
communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation. Everyone was
encouraged to wear something orange. In addition to "in the classroom discussions", Ms Logan read the book “When We Were Alone” by David Robertston at Monday’s
whole school meeting. Quentin Harris visited classrooms. Here is an example of honour feather artwork created in Malindi Curtis' Kindergarten class. |
