Hi Everyone! It’s Mrs. Walker,
Good Thursday Morning to you! I hope you’re all doing well, and trying your best to be patient with yourselves and the special people in your house. It’s a challenge to be with the people you live with day in and day out without breaks, even if they’re your most special people! Everyone is used to going to school, or work, or playdates, so that we get a change of scene often. Then when we come back home from our time away, we’re happy and content to be back. However, it can be very tough now because many of us are following the “Stay at Home!” rule, so there aren’t many breaks from each other. If you can spend a little time alone during your day by going into your room, a quiet spot in your house, or into your yard to have a quiet moment (all with parents’ approval ), it can give you some breathing space and help re-charge your batteries!
The video I’ve chosen for today is an older one by a very famous American musician who has been singing for many years, James Taylor. He has written and performed so many songs over his long musical career, and has even just released a brand new album at the age of 70! However, this one song is special, and one that I go back to listening to often. The beauty of the music, combined with the message of hope, always make me feel so much better after I’ve heard it. It really speaks to what many of us have been saying for the last little while, “ We’re all in this together!” I’ve often thought how great it would be to have our choir sing it. Imagine, a beautiful song performed by some of the most amazing singers I know. Now THAT would be a great moment!
I hope you like listening to “The Secret of Life”, and that the beauty and simplicity of it puts a smile on your face today! I’m missing you all of course, but feel really lucky that I can send some of my favourite music your way! It helps me to feel that we are all still connected, and we will be making music together again very soon!
Love,
Mrs. Walker
