Expressions of Interest - Fulford & Fernwood Elementary Schools
Proposed School District 64 Programs Commencing September 2015

At the March 11, 2015 School District 64 Public Board Meeting, a motion was passed recommending that multiage classes be opened at each of Fulford and Fernwood Schools in September 2015, provided that overall enrolment in the school makes a full or part time program financially viable.

Preliminary conversations indicate the development of programs focused on ecological place-based learning and playbased experiential learning with a curriculum that is compliant with BC's K-9 Transforming Curriculum document. Place-based learning is a foundational component of the the District's SEEC & MYSEEC programs and incorporates cultural studies, nature investigations, real world problem solving, and immersion in community life and mentorship. Program structures to be explored include a cohort model with parent participation that blends classroom, outdoor, and home learning.  Additionally, class size and staffing would be in compliance with the Collective Agreement.

We request that parents who would like to express interest in enrolling their child contact Marie Mullen (Fulford Principal) or Kelda Logan (Fernwood Principal), by Wednesday, April 8, 2015. Marie can be reached at mmullen@sd64.bc.ca and Kelda can be reached at klogan@sd64.bc.ca
